What is Nutrition Therapy?

Nutrition Therapy is an ongoing process in which a Registered Dietitian (RD), works with an individual to assess his or her usual dietary intake and identify areas where change is needed. The RD provides information, educational materials, support, and follow-up to help the individual make and maintain the needed dietary changes.

The goal of Nutrition Therapy is to help a person make and maintain dietary changes. Dietary change may be needed to promote healthier eating, to follow a therapeutic diet, and/or to avoid nutrient-drug interactions. The RD and individual works together to assess current eating patterns and identify areas where change is needed.

Objectives of Nutrition Therapy:

  • Assessing dietary habits
  • Assessing healthy body weight
  • Identifying needed changes
  • Identifying barriers to change
  • Setting goals
  • Maintaining change

What is Exercise Therapy?

Often in eating disorder recovery individuals are told to avoid exercise. Just like food, physical activity is critical to healthy living and can be a healthy part of the recovery process.

Exercise Therapy is a combination of personal training and exploration of exercise symptoms with a focus and goal of incorporating healthy exercise patterns into your recovery. Exercise Therapy aims at giving you an exercise program that provides you with a renewed sense of balance, energy, and strength.

Exercise Therapy can help you reconnect with feelings and communicate on another level.  It will help you debunk body myths and develop a healthy approach to personal fitness.  Exercise encourages you to step outside of your mind and reclaim your body, giving you the courage to find beauty and freedom in your functional fitness level.

Objectives of Exercise Therapy:

  • Explore healthy exercise parameters
  • Distinguish between healthy exercise induced fatigue and unhealthy excessive exercise
  • Learn how to safely incorporate exercise into your recovery and life
  • Develop a exercise program that meets your needs and is enjoyable
  • Incorporate different types of exercises into your healthy routine
  • Balance exercise with nutritional needs
  • Group Nutrition Counseling (MN)
